Senior Embedded Software Engineer (Controls): to perform embedded software design for photovoltaic (PV) inverter controls throughout the full product life cycle, ensuring timely delivery of reliable and feature rich products. Duties include:
-Coordinate software projects to develop and implement new features and resolve existing issues, applying experience in theoretical analysis, simulation analysis, software implementation, code review, documentation, lab, and field testing.
-Prepare outstanding documentation of software designs.
-Theoretical and simulation analysis of 3 phase inverters and DC/DC converters.
-Perform timing and memory analysis for high performance control system implementation.
-Perform control theory analysis and signal processing theory analysis.
-Maintain tracking and documentation of project progress.
-Participate in embedded software review and documentation.
-Assist on standard certification of software and product.
-Assist on software FMEA analysis.
Position involves occasional domestic travel.
Minimum Requirements:
Master of Science in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, plus 2 years of experience in embedded software design and implementation for power control systems (alternatively, will accept a BS and 5 years as described). Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include:
-2 years of experience in control software for power electronics (up to 1MW and 1 kV DC), and including inverters.
-2 years of experience on embedded software development for electrical control systems, including requirements generation, design, documentation, revision control, defect tracking, hardware/software integration, and troubleshooting.
-Knowledge of classical control theory and scientific computing.
-Proficient in C, and real time system design.
-Experience in defensive programming methods to defeat issues such as noise, intermittent communications, erroneous configuration entry, and communications data over-runs or errors.
-Deep understanding of complex designs and failure modes with software/hardware interactions.
-Experience troubleshooting power electronics systems using logic analyzers, emulators & oscilloscopes
-Experience testing power electronic systems using functional test, system test, white box testing, black box testing, boundary testing, stress testing, and automatic regression testing.
-Experience applying software quality assurance and software testing principles and standards.
-Position involves occasional domestic travel.
