The School Librarian creates an environment that motivates students to read and increases student access to library materials.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with teachers to support and enhance their curriculum developmentDeveloping and updating district policies regarding materials selection, circulation, and acceptable use of library materialsEncourage the use of instructional technology to engage students and improve learningManage the print and digital materials available through the librarySupervise and evaluate the library paraprofessionalResearch and suggest new materials to add to the libraryCreate a library space that is inviting to students and represents their backgrounds and interestsMaintain active membership in professional associationsCooperate and network with local libraries and agencies to increase library access in the communityUse data to analyze current reading trends and support teachers and administrators in planning ways to improve school-wide literacyCollaborate with Students Services and Heads of School on Read Across America month and other reading initiativesHold workshops or information sessions for students, staff and families on the best ways to utilize the library resources.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
